Yoonhwa Choi

6th Grade Math Teacher
“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” - Mae West

Yoonhwa Choi is from Seoul, South Korea. As a fourth-grade student, Yoonhwa was totally uninterested in mathematics. One day, she learned how to measure angles with a protractor by herself and was amazed at how thrilling she found it! Since that experience, she has loved mathematics. In 2004, she decided to become a mathematics teacher because she loves to help others. With her family’s fervent support (includes the support of her three-year-old son), she earned a B.S. and an M.S. in Mathematics Education from Korea University in Seoul. Ms. Choi is thrilled to combine her experiences as a teacher in Korea with her work at the Neighborhood Charter School of Harlem!
